Mad World: Age of Darkness will shut down on July 4th. Jandisoft’s grimdark MMO launched last year, and the team gave info on refunds and the transition until the servers go dark.
Announcing the shutdown, the team expressed their gratitude for all the players who did enjoy the game and offered details on what's ahead. The team has already shut down any in-game payments, and if you already have currency you can use it through the end date.
“We deeply appreciate the many thoughtful advice and feedback you have given us, and for always recognizing the positive aspects of Mad World.
Although we have strived to create a more enjoyable game, we regret to inform you that Mad World’s service will end on Wednesday, July 4, 2024.”
With in-game payments already down, if you have purchased currency between May 6th and June 4th, or if you did not receive items you purchased and they're sitting in your mailbox, you can apply for a refund for these items only. In the shutdown notice, Jandisoft included info on how you can request refunds for those limited circumstances. They note that refund processing will begin after the application process ends, and the refund application might last through the game’s shutdown, there's no end date given. So if you do somehow have money tied up in unused currency, you might be waiting a while.

The team continued to add more updates, story, and make a number of fixes, But ultimately it seems like it just wasn't enough to sustain Mad World long-term.
