We've entered week two of the great 64-bit transfer queue saga for The Lord of the Rings Online, and while players have been able to initiate their transfers freely since Friday night (though that hasn't stopped the queue from being overloaded), characters aren't popping up on their new homes for quite some time. Yesterday the LotRO team provided some insight into where things stand, with Executive Producer Rob Ciccolini acknowledging that the frustrations many players are expressing are perfectly "valid."
Ciccolini has expressed multiple times on the official LotRO Discord that the initial transfer demand was much higher than he anticipated, As a result, players have rightfully been frustrated with how this entire ordeal has panned out, with players unable to initiate the transfers due to the Transfer Wizard simply being overloaded to delays with the emails telling players whether their transfer has failed or completed successfully. Ciccolini mentions on Discord that there is a "slightly increased rate of email failures," likely owed to the sheer overwhelming amount of transfers potentially overloading their email system.
"Players who are tired or frustrated at the long queue times; those feelings are valid," Ciccolini said on Discord this morning. He continued, "We are experiencing more [players] transferred up front [than] we expected and although we are working to add cpacity, players are allowed to be frustrated. That's on me."
As far as where things stand in the current queue, Ciccolini announced this morning that the queue has reached transfers initiated in the evening on Saturday, March 8th, meaning we're just shy of four days removed from the head of the queue. The current status on the queues themselves is that while the team has made progress on the pace at which transfers are processed, given the fact that the queue is still processing Saturday transfers means that the wait is still much longer than 48 hours. Ciccolini mentions that the transfer speed has increased by about 33%, so it'll be interesting to see what effect that has on shortening up those transfer times.
The team is still tentatively planning to launch Update 43.1, but the timing has shifted to Thursday. As part of the update, we'll see the team revert the deed log update tothe original version as well as more fixes for the MMO.
