The Lord of the Rings Online's upcoming Legendary Worlds, Angmar and the EU-based Mordor, will officially launch on August 1st, bringing the new worlds and their new world event to VIP players.

The new Legendary Worlds were announced earlier this summer, and the two new servers bring an interesting twist on the Legendary World format. While previous servers could have been defined as progression servers, with Shadowfax and Treebeard seeing fast and slower progression through each content update in LotRO's history, respectively, Angmar and Mordor bring a new world event that adds some major spice to Middle-earth.

The new servers include the Veil of the Nine world event, which will see Nazgul randomly spawn throughout the world. Players will need to band together to tackle the threat of the Ringwraith, and even then they will be hard-pressed to defeat the Nazgul.

Thankfully, one of the twists coming with the Mordor and Angmar worlds is the spawning of twelve Rings of Power, which will appear in the player's inventories randomly for a limited time. A Ringbearer in the fight against the Nazgul can turn the tide, removing some of the invulnerability the Ringwraith has, though it may still take upwards of fifty players to down.

The new Legendary Worlds are, like previous iterations, only available to VIP players, so if you want to jump in on the action you need to either have bought a lifetime account in the past, or are currently paying the optional subscription fee. However, if you're keen on trying your hand in the new worlds, Mordor will be opening at Noon ET on August 1st, while Angmar will open later in the day at 6pm ET. This comes one day after Update 41 launches on the live worlds, bringing the new Birding hobby, among other content and improvements to the MMO.
