The Lord of the Rings Online will open up two more 64-bit servers. This is the latest move from Standing Stone Games to respond to demand and avoid bottlenecks that the game has experienced since the transfer period originally opened last month.
The long-awaited arrival of the 64-bit servers did not exactly have a smooth rollout. Transfers were delayed, some weren’t initially going through, demand soared, and the team had to apply some lmts in order to get things going in the right direction. Two new 64-bit servers are leading another response, after prior new server openings.
Grond will open as a new EU regional 64-bit server tomorrow, April 9th, to VIPs at 2pm EDT/ -4GMT. When the server opens, all housing will be available to immediately claim, so if you're planning to roll a character on the new server or transfer, prepare for that run. Starting one hour later, free character transfers from 32-bit servers and other 64-bit EU servers to Grond will become available.
The US will also get a new 64-bit server, Sting, some time afterward. We anticipate the rollout to be the same or similar. Dark World transfer info is also coming soon.
