This past Friday, Allan “Orion” Maki, a higher-up developer of Standing Stone Games and original co-founder of Lord of the Rings Online, took over the weekly Twitch video stream, answering a few questions and giving updates on upcoming features, events, and systems coming to the MMORPG.

One major update is a new bounty system within the monster play system, with new quests and a reward system. After an introductory quest or few, you’ll be looped into the system—including an option to put a bounty on your own head.

Orion also provides an update on the new “birding” system. Yes, birding, as in bird-watching, as in looking out for birds. On top of over 600 birds available throughout the different regions, they’re also considering implementing limited-time birding events. You’ll take part as part of the game’s hobby systems, much like fishing. There’s nothing to proactively show, but it’s a pretty hefty project.

Plus, there are updates on the 64-bit servers, and a new co-op crafting event yet to come with special rewards. The full VOD is available on YouTube if you’d like to hear all the updates to come. LOTRO has also recently released Update 40, which unleashed a new Mariner Class. If you haven't caught up on LOTRO in a while, you certainly won't want to miss it.
