The Lord of the Rings Online had to delay testing its upcoming Mordor server due to a build issue, but the team is currently working towards a new test that will kick off tomorrow.
The Mordor server, which was revealed by executive producer Rob Ciccolini in a recent Cord of the Rings interview, is an upcoming Legendary Server specifically hosted in the European datacenter. The test was meant to stress this new server in the datacenter, with the new Ringwraith world event providing players with something to tackle while the team stresses things.
The goal is to get as many people jammed onto Mordor as possible to test stability and more through the test server Bullroarer client. However, while the test was meant to kick off today, the team had to delay things due to a build issue. In an update to the forum post about the delay, community manager Cordovan says that the team is aiming to bring the server online tonight with a new stress test scheduled for tomorrow, July 3rd.
"We are currently working toward opening Mordor later today. We are also adjusting our day and time for the stress test to be starting at 2pm Eastern (-4 GMT) on Wednesday, July 3rd"
The new Legendary servers, Angmar and Mordor, will feature this new Ringwraith event, which will see Nazgul spawn over the world, attacking players and forcing the Free Peoples of Middle-earth to band together to push back the Nine. Special Rings will spawn, though only twelve will spawn on the server as a whole, and if a Ringbearer brings one of these magic Rings to the fight, it will make the Nazgul easier to tackle, namely since it strips it of its invulnerability. As it stands, Ciccolini stated that these aren't going to be simple bosses, but will require tons of players to tackle, at least a group of "50 players" to adequately handle them.
Hopefully tomorrow's test can go off without a hitch and we'll see these new Ringwrath world bosses in action. We'll be sure to update this post if a new delay is posted in the coming hours.
