Bossa Games announced this morning that Lost Skies, the upcoming PvE survival game from the World's Adrift developer, has entered pre-alpha. To celebrate, the team dropped some new screenshots and pulled the veil back a bit more on the game.

Introduced earlier this year back in MayLost Skies is set to be an exploration survival game where players set out to uncover a vast open world full of floating islands. Lost Skies is set in the same universe as its Worlds Adrift PvP MMO, but it's meant to be a distinct game all its own. The upcoming survival game is meant for both solo and multiplayer sessions, with players working together to survive a vast sandbox.

Bossa Games revealed this morning that the upcoming title has entered its pre-alpha testing phase, with players taking part in the tutorial, as well as learning more about its mechanics, such as crafting, building, climbing and combat. This is in addition to the playtesters who have been helping to provide feedback on early gameplay builds leading up to the pre-alpha phase.

Via this morning's press release:

“We’ve been gathering feedback from our community since we announced Lost Skies, and they have given us vital feedback on what works and doesn’t work, what is too easy or too difficult and many other gameplay elements,” said Luke Williams, Lead Designer of Lost Skies. “With our move into pre-alpha, we can bring in more playtesters, get more feedback and keep expanding and improving the game.”

Bossa Games provided a few gameplay screenshots to accompany the announcement to show the progress the team has made since its May 2023 reveal. The screenshots show a few gameplay features, such as hang gliding from one island to the next with a  group of friends, using the physics-based grappling hook to swing around and get to where they need to go (Bossa states that the community has already found "new ways to reach unexpected places using agility and momentum.")

Bossa also released a screenshot of the floating islands, stating that players in the test have had access to the Island Creator Tool to upload their own island designs into the game.

Lost Skies is slated to release sometime in 2024.
