Lost Ark servers were down most of the morning to address a series of disconnects affecting the game across various regions that began after today’s update went live. Amazon has also released a list of compensation for last week's series of ban errors for player accounts that got caught in the bot sweeps.
Today’s update is set to start the Lost Ark x The Witcher event collaboration, and introduces a number of improvements and quality of life changes. Since the reports began rolling in, the team decided to take down servers across all regions to work on it and find the source of the disconnects. Lost Ark has been dealing with a different, longer-lasting disconnect issue only affecting some players, but this time, it was connected to the update and widespread.
After several hours of work on the issue, all regions’ servers were announced to be coming back up at 5:45 AM PT/8:45 AM ET, and they’re currently up at the time this is published.
The Lost Ark team is also bringing attention to their efforts against bots in the game with two announcements. They will be running a CAPTCHA test on the North America West server only, now that the update is live. This will be an image-based CAPTCHA system that you'll see pop up when you're entering new world map areas, except for raids or dungeons. You'll have 30 seconds to complete it, but if you fail three times, you will be removed from the game and they’ll review. If this is successful at reducing bot action and also isn't too inconvenient for players, they'll consider a rollout process for all regions.
The second announcement involves a compensation package that will be given out to all players Following last week's ban errors where player accounts were mistakenly caught in the bot ban wave efforts. Those affected by ban errors should see penalties removed soon if they haven’t been already.
