February in Lost Ark, will be one of celebration, with the February Anniversary Celebration bringing the new continent of Rowen, along with new content, and the first anniversary event.
The update is going live on February 8th. Rowen is a new content west of Shushire and it has been rediscovered, since word spread about crimson jewels found in the land. These jewels, called Sylmael, are a precious resource, so we’ll likely be hearing a lot more about them. With the competition over the Sylmael comes competition in general, since Rowen is all about the conflict.
In order to start the Rowen world quest, you’ll need an item level of 1445, and you’ll have to choose a faction to support and represent–Preigelli or Liebertane.
“Preigelli was formed under the belief that the chaos in Rowen was due to its indulgences, and that strict rules are needed in Rowen. They were formed by a group of mercenaries who excel at utilizing machines. "Order defeats Chaos every time."
Liebertane was formed under the belief that the chaos in Rowen was due to overly strict rules and restrictions. This group of pirates and mages values freedom and passion. "We have a simple rule. Take as much as you can."”
These competing factions will determine everything you do in this new continent. As soon as you pick a faction you'll enter PVP mode against the opposing faction that will last as you continue in Rowen. You’ll want to earn yourself Faction XP and rank up among the 15 possible tiers. Earning that XP comes from killing members of the opposing faction, and from activities like daily, weekly, and co-op quests. If you’re a fan of open PvP, then you’ll probably be spending a lot of time in Rowen.
Lost Ark’s anniversary of its Western launch is soon, and more details on those events are to come.
One announcement the team did make early is that they’ve made faster progress on the first announced Specialist Advanced Class, The Artist, and will be adding it in March instead of April.
