Loric Games, the studio founded by former Mythic Entertainment and BioWare devs have announced that it just closed a funding round, as well as the appointment of industry and MMO vet Jeff Hickman as the company's new CPO.
The latest funding round saw the company bring in $4 million, led by investor 1AM Gaming. The company says this investment will allow the studio to "amplify its efforts to create cutting-edge co-op RPGs," which will now have a new Chief Production Officer helping to bring those visions to life.
Loric Games was set up back in 2022 by former Mythic Entertainment and BioWare vets, aiming at creating a new co-op survival sandbox RPG. The studio has been hard at work on its first title since then - which we still don't much about - and it's tabbed industry and MMO vet Jeff Hickman to help head up production. MMO fans will remember Hickman from games such as Star Wars: The Old Republic, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, as well as far back as Dark Age of Camelot.
"Joining the talented team at Loric is like coming back home. We're not just colleagues; we're co-conspirators in a grand adventure. Together, we'll turn our groundbreaking ideas into cultural phenomena, one game at a time," Hickman stated in this morning's press release.
It'll be interesting to see what the team is building when the finally reveal more details - hopefully soon.
