Loric Games' Debut Title Is A Survival RPG Named Echoes of Elysium

Loric Games, the studio set up by former Mythic and BioWare developers, has finally announced its first title, an upcoming survival RPG named Echoes of Elysium.

The fact that we're seeing a survival RPG from the team made up of long-time developers isn't surprising, since it's mission was to "bring rich storytelling to online survival RPGs." Echoes of Elysium is the first title to try to fit that goal, taking players to the skies to build, survive, and group up together to take on the challenges of the world.

Set in what is described as the "ancient clockwork world of Elysium," Echoes of Elysium will feature floating islands for players to journey through, from building a "fleet of majestic clockwork airships," to explore the shattered heavens of ancient Greek myth.

According to the Steam listing, Elysium will feature a procedurally generated world that "provides limitless play" as a result of its "randomized environments." Players will explore, harvest materials, build and more - standard survival RPG fare - on these randomized environments, all to help upgrade and build their airships.

It seems the airship is central to Echoes of Elysium, as players will design and build their very own that look like clockwork-style Triremes and Biremes from the Bronze Age. These airships seem critical to getting around the vast island networks that make up the skies of Elysium, where players will build, upgrade and even live on their airships. These airships aren't just to traverse the world of Elysium, but combat enemies that lurk in the skies above as well. As of right now, no mention of PVP is listed, but one can assume if it's part of the plan, Airship combat against other players will also reign over the heavens.

While the press release spends a lot of time on the airships, the Steam page also shows off hand to hand combat on foot in some of the screenshots, so it's fair to say both will play a large role in the day to day of an Elysian.

Remember that "rich storytelling" that Loric Games aims to bring to the genre? Echoes of Elysium will also have heroic progression aimed at helping players grow more powerful, but also uncover the secrets of the world itself.

Via the official website:

"Journey to an ancient paradise filled with clockwork wonders of mysterious origin and purpose. An echo of a long forgotten name lingers on the winds of Elysium - Heron. Reveal the obscured annals of the past in a procedurally created world through dynamic story progression and unique encounters."

You can check out Echoes of Elysium on its official website, and even wishlist it on Steam today.
