The Lord of the Rings Online team teased the inevitable 64-bit world dates as recently as this week, and now we straight-up have a date to the event: the first public 64-bit servers go live March 6.
With this announcement, Standing Stone Games has also shared the more precise timeline of when the openings and server transfers will happen. We already knew the general hand-waved details of that timeline, but it’s good to have exact times so any wanting players can get ready.
On March 3 at 12:00 p.m. EST (9:00 a.m. PST), VIP subscribers will get a head start to character creation for these worlds, as well as name selection, for up to three characters. This is only for entirely new characters, though.
Subsequently, free server transfers become available on March 4 at 12:00 p.m. EST (9:00 a.m. PST) via the launcher client, a day (or rather, 25 hours) before the actual server launch. For this time, this’ll only be for characters who are on active, open/unclosed worlds. This option will be available until August 31.
And then, of course, the actual servers open up on March 5 at 1:00 p.m. EST (10:00 a.m. PST). If you don’t like where you put yourself for some reason, perhaps because you’re missing the roleplay life, there’ll be weekly free transfer availability until April 30.
There’ll be four servers going live, a standard and a roleplay server for each North America and Europe regions. The LOTRO team has also gone other other 64-bit world details in the past, giving any players hoping to make the jump time to prepare.
