[Update #2 - 2:12 PM PT] LotRO's community manager, Cordovan, has shared some extra details regarding the new transfer window and 64-bit server opening, including the official timing. The 64-bit server will officially open on Friday, March 7th at 1 PM Eastern/10 AM Pacific. In a subsequent message in the official Discord, Cordovan also confirmed that Premium Housing will be disabled when the servers open, thanks in part to the "land rush" for players and Kinships to secure prime real estate once the server officially opens.

[UPDATE - 1:45 PM PT] LotRO's executive producer Rob Ciccolini confirmed in the new Lord of the Rings Online Discord server that the opening of the new 64-bit worlds has been pushed back once again, this time opening on Friday. Additionally, for those (like me) who are waiting for the magical transfer button to reappear in the LotRO launcher, this won't happen again until tomorrow morning at 8am EST/5am PST at the earliest.

Original Story as follows...

It has been a rocky start to The Lord of the Rings Online’s 64-bit transfer process, with issues and slow processing leading to transfers needing to be disabled yesterday. Standing Stone Games is continuing to monitor the situation and has provided a few updates as things have unfolded and become clearer.

The anticipated transfer process was set to begin and, while some did get the chance to catch the transfer button while it was active, the system subsequently became overloaded. While some did get to complete the process, it took time, sometimes even 12+ hours to see their character disappear off of the list on their original servers. One server in particular, Gladden, had extensive issues, as CM Cordovan mentioned in a response to an affected player:

“We are investigating a load-related transfer issue with Gladden where the transfer system is struggling to gather your character data from Gladden. Transfers have been happening from Gladden, and some players have been successful, but you are not alone in experiencing this issue.”

The wait times continued to be long, as the team made the decision to temporarily halt the process, with CM Cordovan promising to keep the community updated starting in the morning.

This morning, the transfer option continued to be down, while transfers in the queue continued to process. Considering the uneven way this has gone down so far, some were concerned with keeping access fairer once things do reopen.

The most recent update continued to essentially ask for patience while they sort things out. “We are working to reopen the transfer service to new transfers. We are also investigating issues with Gladden specifically. As soon as we have more information we will let you know.”

We’ll update this with new info on transfers with any significant info or changes to know.
