The developer behind independent cozy MMO, Loftia, launched a Kickstarter campaign on August 1st to raise money to fund game development. The total raised has now hit over $450,000, and the team has revealed a number of stretch goal features that the additional funds will let them create.
Qloud Games describes Loftia as a “new age, solarpunk MMO”, where socialization is key, and people can play together, and create their own customized spaces in a sandbox environment. In addition to some of the traditional sandbox MMO and survival features like being able to create and customize your space, raising pets, activities like fishing, there is an environmental bent tying into that solarpunk theme. What this means is that in addition to farming in a traditional sense in the soil, there will also be an hydroponic farming system to create a sustainable setup in this shared world.
The team initially raised over $200,000 in their first few hours of the crowdfunding campaign, but since then, several new stretch goals have been reached. The $250,000 goal is an aquaponics farming system that will expand these features and let you create a sustainable farming operation with aquaponics features added to the hydroponics machines. At $300,000, the team will add a thrift store. With the theme of sustainability, Qloud describes this as a place to find “Previously owned and loved pieces of clothing and decorations for your housing needs”. it seems like players will be able to have their items, and create a secondhand economy.
With the $350k level, Player housing options will expand, including upgrades to the home, expanded decoration options, and even additional farming space. In Loftia, you can create shared space with your friends and even assign permission to change or edit the spaces for collaboration. This also promises to let even more friends be able to take part.
Finally, at $400k, The team will include a more advanced and in-depth cooking system, with cooking challenges. And at $450k, you’ll be able to work at the bakery, boba shop,ot cafe to play minigames and serve customers.
