Loadedinc put together an informative E3 report on the soon-to-be-classic superhero MMORPG from Cryptic Studios.  Covered in the article was the recently revealed "archetypes," among other things.  Here's a byte:

At the start of CoH players will create their own hero by first of all selecting their hero's origin which is how their hero got his/her powers in the first place. The origin affects a few things including the costume types available to the player. The next thing to select is the character's class, or as they're called in CoH, Archetypes.. There are four Archetypes available in CoH, the Blaster which is the offensive character that can dish out damage but can't receive much damage in return, the Defender which is the long range support hero that sits back and helps his/her team-mates, the Scrapper who's a bit of an all rounder both in defense and offense, and finally, there's the Tanker archetype that can take a lot of damage but who's not quite as deadly as the Scrapper.
