Long Tale Games, the studio that picked up the helm for the 2018 medieval sandbox Life is Feudal: MMO, has announced the free-to-play Life is Feudal: Arden spin-off game. The new game will have several phases of testing before launch as it introduces its new map, mechanics, and streamlined gameplay systems.
The announcement by LTG outlines the major changes between the MMO and Arden. The new map is considered the “centerpiece,” as it’s “smaller than the vast lands of Godenland, featuring intricate landscapes and numerous points of interest to keep your journey varied and dynamic.” There will also be separate zones for PvP, PvE and PvPvE so players can engage however they want.
Arden simplifies some of its systems, specifically the crafting and character progression. Unlike the MMO, Arden allows players to swap between classes by visiting a Monument, reducing the need for alts.
There are also major tweaks to map-wide gameplay systems. Instead of instant trades, players will actually have to travel across the land to deliver items to trading posts. Also, Judgement Hours will be scheduled per regional server so that players in each region can actually join.
The game will have Closed Beta Testing, Open Beta Testing, and an Early Access pre-launch phase. Keys for the “CBT,” which will start by the end of 2024, will be offered to those with Early Access Packs, those who’ve bought a Life is Feudal: MMO subscription, anyone who won one in a Discord giveaway, and from friend invites. Then, the “OBT” will be open to all interested players, including Steam players.
Early Access will be an early launch stage of the game itself, offering a two-day head start to claim land and partake in other activities. Players can pick up an Early Access Pack, already available on the website and priced from $29 to $99, which also includes an extra key for a friend and other small perks.
As for monetization, the Early Access Parks tease a “Premium” service by way of a 30-day subscription, so chances are there’ll be extra perks offered through this. Players can also use the MMO currency to buy Arden items.
The original MMO will continue to be supported once Arden is released as well.
