Paradox Interactive and The Chinese Room are back with another dev diary on the Ventrue, one of four playable Clans in Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Just two weeks ago we learned about went into bringing the Ventrue into Bloodlines 2 from more of a lore perspective, but today we’ll be looking at how Ventrue play and the abilities they bring to the table.

Ventrue are most well known for their ability to dominate friends and foes alike. Master manipulators, they can command their enemies to betray their allies, ‘forget’ they witnessed something, or even kill themselves outright.

Let’s go over their abilities.

  • Flesh of Marble – This is the Ventrue’s passive. Feeding on enemies hardens the Ventrue’s skin, allowing them to withstand substantially more punishment.
  • Cloud Memory – As we alluded to earlier, this ability can force an enemy to forget the Ventrue was ever there.
  • Possession – Powerful Ventrue can possess their foes. In-game, this allows the player to physically control the enemy and see through its eyes. It can even be commanded to attack another person when in this possessed state.
  • Terminal Decree – Why should a Ventrue sully its own hands with murder when it can get the target to do it themselves?
  • Mass Manipulation – This ability allows the Ventrue to placate all enemies in sight. All of the aforementioned Dominate abilities will affect targets afflicted with the Mass Manipulation effect while its active.
  • Thirst – This is the Ventrue’s Clan Perk and it simply increases the amount of health restored when the Ventrue feeds.

Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 releases on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 sometime this fall.
