Last Epoch’s big 1.1 update, Harbingers of Ruin, is out today, bringing a slew of new content to the ARPG, along with improvements, the new Evade mechanic, and dozens of new items to try to collect.
Two major features include the addition of cycles, and the new Evade mechanic. Cycles are like seasons, and with the 1.1 update, it is now Cycle 1.1. There are Legacy stashes and additional characteristics and all previous characters have been moved to Legacy so if you want to start on the new cycle server you have to create a new character.How to create new characters in either the current Cycle or Legacy realms.
Evade is a special ability that all classes have access to, a new defense option that also adds a little mobility. Distinct from Dodge, evade offers no damage immunity.
So, about those Harbingers - you'll find these new bosses in each of the 10 timelines and they come in several forms. If you can defeat them in all of the timelines, you'll also gain access to the Pinnacle Boss. These extra difficult challenges are now open for those skilled enough and patient enough to take them on.
The Nemesis system is also here, and it gives you choices to make. Sometimes you'll find a dead warrior wearing armor. You can choose to avoid a fight, and change the potential loot for a future encounter, or challenge the Nemesis to try and get the loot it carries. Slay it outright or best it in combat and empower it. Empowering it means you’ll meet the same Nemesis later, with better versions of the items it holds. This system is a way you can earn some Legendaries, and certain affixes.
It's a massive update, and Eleventh Hour Games even has a video from the game director, Judd, to walk us all through the bulk of the changes in about 11 minutes. A number of quality of life improvements include a new Blessings stash for flexibility, more options for loot filtering, some changes to rankings, and more.
The update also arrives with Twitch Drops and The Light Before The Dark community event that will start July 12th.
