KickStarter Fatigue is Real - 2016 Dismal for Games

KickStarter fatigue is a real thing, at least when it comes to funding forthcoming games. In the first half of 2015, backers pledged over $20M and slightly more than that in the second half of 2015. In the first half of 2016, backers pledged only $8.2M, less than half of either half of 2015.

The KickStarter report reveals a few other interesting facts based on several other factors that overall sees the same number of funded projects is about the same, though requiring less money to complete.

The total amount of money raised is lower than either half of 2015, but that is mostly due to a smaller number of very high performing projects. If you ignore the projects that raised more than $500,000, there has been more money raised for games. There have actually been more game projects funded than in all the other tiers for the past 2 years.
