Karos Launches Free Classic Version To Throw Back To 2010 Launch

A revival of a revived oldie.

Much like the World of Warcraft Classic edition, Karos Classic aims to bring back the original iteration of the game. On the Steam page, it calls itself “an ideal opportunity to indulge your nostalgia for your favorite game, untouched by years and updates.”

“The classic version of Karos was created for those who ‘used to have better’, the grass in Berneo was greener, and the Gate Bregal was younger,” the official English site reads.

Karos was originally fully released in 2010, during the massive wave of WoW competitors, featuring a classic mix of a faction system, PvP, crafting, and endgame content. It was originally shut down in mid-2012 for the revamped (but only briefly launched) Karos Returns of 2015, but returned sometime around then, too, and is still active to this day.

Karos Classic’s primary quirk that it touts is the “Flett system,” which is essentially a specialty leveling system where players “get the energy of fallen monsters to create powerful equipment that will improve along with your character.” Other than this, it features its classic four races and “many classes” that each comes with its own unique “superskills,” and it seems very proud that it lacks “autocach” (which assumedly means no auto-grinding, which Karos Returns seemed to have).

Importantly for some, it also boasts “low system requirements,” so you can take your old potato on the go for some classic MMORPG gaming. They do not guarantee, however, that it will run on a microwave oven, “but anything that looks a little like a Windows computer will definitely pull it.”

Karos Classic is free with premium currency options.
