Kakao Games seems to have ArcheAge 2 back on track for 2025, with Chrono Odyssey also set for release next year, and Path of Exile 2 in 2024, according to new financial reports.
Q1 was mixed for Kakao, with operating profit up 8.1% for the quarter year over year, but down from the previous quarter. Net income in Q1 year over year was down a whopping 91.1%, but the report lists QoQ result as “turn to profit”.
The reports show plenty of focus on mobile games, where Kakao continues to successfully target releases, including the soon to release mobile MMORPG Odin: Valhalla Rising (which will also get a PC version). Yet, there’s a lot on PC as well. Chrono Odyssey is officially on the list of new global PC/console releases, with 2025 the release target, alongside ArcheAge 2. The latter was previously placed “beyond 2025” in the last quarter’s financial report.
Path of Exile 2 is also one of their releases set for the second half of this year. Back in March, the beta for the game was pushed back and expected sometime towards the end of the year, but the appearance of a 2024 release in this financial disclosure does give some hope that Grinding Gear Games can get their ARPG officially launched in 2024.
Kakao has several MMORPGs set for 2025, with original IP title Project Q and Ares: Rise of Guardians both headed for global PC/console releases. A similar cross-platform release is also set for both Chrono Odyssey and ArcheAge 2.
With the original ArcheAge set to close in North America and Europe in June, having the sequel, which will work to feel both familiar and different, back on track should give fans something to look forward to.
