John Smedley has come out about what he believes is the bottom line on why the Fortnite cross play issue with Sony continues. Smedley, former studio head of Sony Online Entertainment, sent out a tweet earlier this week saying that when he "was at Sony, the stated reason internally for this was money. Dumb reason, but there it is." he wrote.

Cross play between gamers on multiple platforms has been in the spotlight recently after Fornite launched for Nintendo Switch. "Players who had linked their Epic Games account with the PlayStation 4 version and then tried to launch the game on Switch have found they are unable to log in with the same account. This strips them of previous purchases made on PlayStation and requires them to start over again. This has not been an issue with any other platform.
