If you've been longing to take flight in Fortnite, we've got good news: Jetpacks have (finally) arrived, at least for a limited time. Epic explained that these are considered "backpacks" and are true gameplay items, not cosmetics ala Back Bling. They take up an inventory slot and are consumed on use. Once consumed, it is destroyed, though another can be picked up.
Jetpacks are considered Legendary Rarity and are found in Treasure Chests throughout the game. Here's how to use one:
The Jetpack is engaged by jumping while in mid-air, providing additional mobility.
- While flying, there is a limited duration it can be used before it must charge again.
- Recharge begins when the Jetpack is not in use.
- You can not enter Targeting Mode while in the air.
- On controller, using the Targeting Mode input will trigger the Jetpack.
Other components of today's update includes the new Limited Time Mode: Solid Gold 2 where all weapon drops are Legendary. The Limited Time Mode: Close Encounters is also live where players face off against each other in close quarters combat, this time using Shotguns and Jetpacks.
For Save the World players, Archaeolo-Jess has been added to the Event Store, though she won't be available until tomorrow. In addition, the Weekly Limit for Flux in the Weekly Store has been doubled.
