The Elder Scrolls Online will feature on two special streams later this month, on January 25th.
First up, the game will be a part of Microsoft's Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct, that will reveal what The Elder Scrolls Online 2023 adventure will look like. Following the Microsoft and Bethesda showcase stream, which will also feature reveals and previews from Mojang, Turn 10, and Arkane Studios, there will be an ESO Global reveal event stream.
The Microsoft stream starts at 3 PM PST/ 3 PM EST and is set to feature games like ESO, Redfall, Minecraft Legends, and Forza Motorsport. Microsoft did make a point to note in its announcement that Starfield will not be covered in this showcase, but will get its own deep dive in a separate showcase.
“To dedicate the proper amount of time for a deep dive into Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield, a standalone show is in the works.”
For The Elder Scrolls Online, it will be a stream to watch, both the start on the Microsoft and Bethesda stream and the global reveal itself. Recently, ZeniMax Online Studios' director Matt Firor announced that ESO would step away from the yearlong story arcs, marking a distinct shift from the past several years.
So what’s ahead? Storytelling in Tamriel is set to return to chapters, with more complete storytelling, after some felt that the ongoing, interconnected yearlong arcs were overwhelming. This should also help the development team feel less constricted, which is something Firor’s 2022 year in review noted about the format that the team had been using since 2019.
We can still expect a dungeon DLC early in the year. Late in the year, in Q4, there is a new system coming. No details were revealed in the year in review, but might we get a taste at the coming event? We’ll have to see on January 25th.
