Motiga's Creative Director James Phinney has penned a new developer letter on the company's site that discusses the vision behind Gigantic, that it is something unique and special. It is, he writes, "not re-imagining the last big thing. We are striving to build the next big thing."
While reiterating the company's plan, it became necessary to lay off the Motiga publishing staff when it became clear that the goal of releasing Gigantic in 2015 simply could not be met. This is not the end of the road for Gigantic and the Motiga staff has a solid plan in mind for 2016.
Going forward, fans and players of Gigantic can look forward to the following in the FIRST update:
- improved matchmaking to create more balanced teams
- major alterations to how power is generated to make more interesting matches
- content additions including a new map, a new hero, a new creature to summon
- the beginning of the progression system to make it fun and rewarding
- mechanic realignments to improve gameplay
Beyond this update, Motiga will be working on polishing the game, adding social and competitive features and more.
You can read the entire letter on the Motiga / Gigantic site.
