Jagex announced an open-world survival game set in the RuneScape universe back in 2022. Now, they’re recruiting testers for a closed alpha test.
Little is known so far, but the survival game is one of Jagex’ broad efforts to expand upon the RuneScape IP in new projects.
“Jagex is developing a new Survival game set in the RuneScape universe, built in Unreal Engine 5. We know Jagex is at it's best when we're working with players, so we're looking to recruit playtesters for our Closed Alpha,” they shared, along with the survey.
On the survey page, it indicates that the alpha will be available on PC, with Steam and Discord accounts required in order to participate. he form’s questions seek to learn more about you, what country you live in, your PC, what games you play, and whether you have played RuneScape / Old School RuneScape (although this is not required to participate). They are pretty typical questions asked of potential playtesters, so if you have interest in seeing what kind of survival game Jagex is cooking up, you can take your chances on entering.
The upcoming survival game will be open world and built in Unreal Engine 5. When announced, Jagex announced new leads and senior developers to bring this new project to life. With two years having passed since then and an alpha recruiting potential testers, it's likely that will start hearing more before too long.
