Ahoy, mateys! Arrrgh you ready for Cap’n Jack Sparrow? Ok I’ll stop. Today is the day the Pirate’s Life update arrives on Sea of Thieves bringing the Disney collaboration to bear in the game.

The Pirate’s Life update was shown off during Microsoft’s press showing last week. This collaboration with Disney brings the world of Pirates of the Caribbean to the Sea of Thieves for the first time. If you missed it, you can check out our coverage here.

Via the Xbox Wire release,

Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life is the game’s most ambitious story-driven campaign to date. Players will go on a quest to free Jack Sparrow from his prison and witness the power of the world’s greatest Pirate Treasure, which Jack just so happens to have stolen. Jack is being pursued by his old enemy, the notorious Davy Jones, and their arrival on the Sea of Thieves will ultimately spell disaster if Jones and his forces aren’t stopped."

In fact, the folks at RARE hosted a 37 minute showcase…diving deeper (sorry, not sorry) into what you can expect in A Pirate’s Life. Your adventure will span five Tall Tales and will introduce new creatures, NPCs, and bring a new story-telling to Sea of Thieves.

The showcase provides tons of detail and also explains just exactly how this collaboration with Disney began. They talk about the whole pitch process, the creative decisions, and how A Pirate’s Life is…uncharted waters (last one, I swear) for Sea of Thieves in terms of features and story-telling.
