Sega is beginning two new collaborations in Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis, and also announced a new registered user milestone.
The first collaboration is the latest Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration. This time, it’s Sonic's birthday. The event has started and you'll be able to find Sonic and friends in the lobby of PSO2 Blocks. There will also be statues of these characters in Central City in the NGS blocks. When the latest big update arrived, opening up the Creative Space and letting players begin building up their own custom islands, Build Parts were introduced.
This collaboration also includes a collaboration pack with costumes of Sonic characters and themed Build Parts for Creative Space. Not only are you celebrating Sonic's birthday, but you get to leave a little bit of Sonic on your custom island.
The event also includes a limited time quest, Special Training: Green Hill Sprint. Quest also has limited time tasks and exclusive title tasks and you can earn yourself titles like Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles in addition to fun things like music discs, accessories, or other rewards. You’ll have to sprint for this one, collect rings, and earn yourself some quest points to nap some loot.
The second new collaboration is with Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 from the Ghost in the Shell franchise. The story is set in 2045 with the world involved in the sustainable War, one that could theoretically last forever. Major Motoko Kusanagi and other Public Sector Security Section 9 members are now mercenaries. There's a new threat. The collaboration includes scratch tickets, where you can get yourself a Major Kusanagi style outfit, emotes, motion changes, and even Maga based on the series’ Tachikoma. If you log in during the collaboration for up to 7 days you'll be able to get Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 stickers and a poster for Creative Space.
Sega also announced that Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis has reached 11 million registered users, hitting the mark after two years of the global launch.
