Zenimax devs were on hand during a special live stream event earlier today to reveal what's next for The Elder Scrolls Online. As dataminers predicted, the story is taking off to Elsweyr this June. In addition, a new yearlong story, The Season of the Dragon, is beginning that will span four tales that are all "interconnected and epic".

Elsweyr

When players arrive in Elsweyr, they will find a "gigantic new zone" of a similar size to Summerset and featuring about 30-hours of new content that ties directly into The Season of the Dragon.

Most excitingly, players will be able to play as a Necromancer for the very first time, "the most requested addition from the community", according to devs.

Lastly, there will be a new 12-player Trial called Sunspire, Dragon Attack world events, new delves, public dungeons and "stand-alone quests" alongside feature improvements and QoL improvements.

The new Elsweyr zone adds yet another massive landmass to the ESO world for fans to explore. The home of the Khajiit is laden with moon sugar farms, fertile grasslands, scorching deserts, and palatial cities as well as a host of new monsters and enemies. Elder Scrolls veterans may recall exploring the province of Elsweyr in The Elder Scrolls: Arena as well as its outer edges in The Elder Scrolls Online’s regions of Reaper’s March and Khenarthi’s Roost.

Season of the Dragon

"The Season of the Dragon is a yearlong interconnected adventure that begins in February with the Wrathstone DLC game pack and continues through the upcoming Elsweyr Chapter and beyond". It will be the main highlight of each of 2019's updates.

Those who choose to will be able to preorder Elsweyr and "players can grab a ton of exciting rewards for purchasing, pre-ordering and pre-purchasing the game".
