As promised in recent teases, the latest Palia dev update promises something festive and snowy, with details on the seasonal changes you’ll find in the game, decoration, a peek at new content in development and the ability to celebrate and throw snowballs.

If you play Palia, you’ll begin to see things get a bit snowy, as piles of snow begin to appear all around Kilima Village.  You'll also be able to share some snow fun with your friends by having snowball fights. Or just tossing them around. You'll be able to purchase snowballs with gold and once you've got them you can start sneaking up on other players with a snowball that will sparkle on impact. The ability to throw snowballs isn't competitive, it's just a fun extra that the Singularity 6 team is adding, for some extra wintery flavor.

The festival Winterlights is also coming, and the Majiri want to extend some of their traditions with the human ones, so you’ll get a tree to decorate. You'll have to do a little work to get your decorations for your tree, but you'll be able to find those decorations, along with new home decorations, by doing things like fishing, opening treasure chests, and more activities. The tree will not fade, so you can actually keep it all year if you want.

If you’ve chosen a Shepp, there will be a special interaction available, and some additional festive content and decor all around. Prepare to learn a little about the ancient human celebrations and what celebrations happen now.

This is the final dev update of the year, and the team promises more in January. They’re not leaving without a sneak peek though. In addition to announcing Temple of the Gales, there’s also one preview image to whet your appetite.

The new Temple will be similar to other temples and offer teams some mysteries to investigate, puzzles to solve, and more lore opportunities. In Temple of the Gales, there will be options to learn about Caleri and Elouisa, and even to help strengthen their sisterly relationship. As with the other temples, Temple of the Flames and Temple of the Waves,  expect  to be able to unlock new decorations and also new recipes.

Next week, we can expect a round of thorough optimizations and adjustments to controller support.

One question that hasn’t quite been answered is the status of Palia on the Nintendo Switch. That’s still coming, so that’s confirmed, but they say “we don’t have anything new to share on that… yet”.
