Inkbound is set to receive a some big changes in their next major update, Gods & Relics, which launches today, October 27, 2023, at 12:00 PM ET. This update brings a plethora of new features and improvements to the game, but also delivers on a big monetization change that developer Shiny Shoe announced was coming earlier this month.

Roguelike multiplayer RPG Inkbound is welcoming an abundance of changes in Gods & Relics, which includes two new Aspects (classes): the Chainbreaker and the Godkeeper. The Chainbreaker is a brawler who relies on their fists, utilizing powerful Combo mechanics to defeat their enemies. The Godkeeper, on the other hand, is a spear-based fighter that resembles more of a Spartan Warrior, and defends the written Gods of Yore. With the Godkeeper you’re going to require strategic positioning in order to do the most damage. Both Aspects come with unique unlock quests, and their own aesthetics to wear.

Another major addition to the latest update is the Vestige Set feature, which reworks how players increase power during a run. Each Vestige belongs to one or more sets, and the more you match each set the bigger bonus you get for that Vestige set. This will provide another avenue of complexity related to how you build your character as you progress through a storybook.

The update also introduces 28 Steam Achievements, offering a mix of progression and challenge Achievements for players to pursue.

There were plenty of smaller changes in the update as well. Sea Breaches have been redesigned with stronger rewards and more interesting choices. The Victory Board has been refreshed with 108 new objectives and new cosmetics. Ranks 11 through 20 have been redesigned, and the earlier Ranks have been smoothed out, and the run reward structure has been updated. Seasonal Quests were also moved to the main questline, which includes Season 1 content has been added back for new players, and Season 2 content will not be removed at the end of the season, so players will continue to earn rewards for these seasons. You can read an exhaustive list of the changes on their official patch notes document

Probably the most significant change the we reported earlier this month, is that all in-game monetization has been removed. Leveling Passes have been converted into optional cosmetic-only "supporter pack" DLC sold via Steam. The in-game store has been renamed to the Cosmetic Vault, where players can earn cosmetics and Vault Dust (formerly Shinies) through normal gameplay.

Inkbound’s Gods & Relics update expands the game in numerous ways, and generally just makes the game more accessible, player friendly, and diversifies the number of Aspects that players can choose from. You can play the Gods & Relics update by purchasing an Early Access copy of Inkbound on Steam.
