Speaking on the Game Mess Mornings podcast, industry insider Jeff Grubb claims the Knights of the Old Republic remake is "no longer being worked on right now."
The full quote:
“I just want to clear it up: this game is not being worked on right now. Just, full stop, this game is not being worked on in any way by any studio.
I looked into it a little bit; I don’t think this is news to most of you. I think you guys can piece together if you’ve been listening to this, and Sony stepping away and scrubbing mentions of Knights of the Old Republic on social media and YouTube. You can put two and two together there, but just to 100% confirm it: this game is not being worked on right now.”
There’s a ton of fan excitement around the KOTOR remake, but unfortunately the project’s had a tumultuous development history to say the least. The game first experienced an ‘indefinite pause’ last July, shifted development studios, and just this week Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingeefors refused to comment on the status of the game’s development during a recent earnings call, stating, "I noticed that anything I say to this becomes a headline. So that is my only comment."
