Worldshards is an independent life simulation sandbox MMORPG from Lowkick Studio. The team recently appeared at Gamescom Asia with a new build of the game, ahead of a planned closed beta set for Q4 2023.
Set in a world called Murrlandia, Worldshards is a sandbox coming to PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) that lets you set up communities, build, craft, set up trading, explore, and more. You can build up your own island, home, farms, factories, and even establish towns and defenses with others. Lowkick offered that the first main city hub has made it into their new build, and work continues. The game does promise deep fantasy lore and places to explore, story to experience, and to interact with the world and the secrets it holds.
As a sandbox, there will be a player-driven economy and everyone will be able to build, craft, barter, and trade with others. Some may even be able to carve out opportunities to establish themselves and become specialists and entrepreneurs. With an emphasis on player-driven experiences, this also means that the social and communal aspects of Worldshards can be as deep as you want them to be. There will be ways to find friends, create guilds, establish relationships, and even to go out and conquer (and defend).
In addition to all of the standard community and individual decisions to be made, and the world and story discoveries to be made, Worldshards also offers…cats. Meowkles are a series of feline companions and helpers that you can recruit to accompany you on adventures, travel, and to help you accomplish things.
The team will be taking feedback from a previous test and Gamescom appearance before their upcoming beta. You can find out more and apply over at Worldshards.
