Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang have written a new graphic novel / comic called "In Real Live" that centers around a young female gamer that is paid for hunting down 'gold farmers'. While aimed squarely at the younger MMO audience, IRL seeks to teach readers more about worldwide politics, tolerance and activism.
The pair want kids, who may never have considered virtual and real-world economies, to gain an understanding of the true, human cost of the things that they want and have.
I hope that readers of this book will be inspired to dig deeper into the subject of behavioral economics and to start asking hard questions about how we end up with the stuff we own, what it costs our human brothers and sisters to make these goods, and why we think we need them. But it's a poor politics that can only be expressed by choosing to buy or not buy something. Sometimes (often!), you need to organize to make a difference.
