Ilysia, a VR MMO by Team 21 Studios has added a new 3D Character Artist to their team, Kevin “Rome” Nash. The new addition comes just weeks after a new Senior Game Developer was brought into the fray.
Ilysia has had a fantastic year by executing a successful Closed Alpha 1 test, they've secured a private investment, and they've been hiring new developers. Team 21 has been making steady improvements to the game while keeping their focus on transitioning into a Beta state in the future. Ilysia successfully kickstarted back in October of 2020, where it exceeded their 60 thousand funding goal with nearly 160 thousand dollars.
Since then, Ilysia has debuted and closed their Alpha One test, which began in June and lasted about a month. Shortly thereafter they were able to secure additional funding from a private investment, though the extent of the funding was not disclosed. Currently, there are no pledges, early access options or donation offerings that players can provide to get into the game early, though the team hasn’t ruled out the possibility of buy-ins for future testing phases.
Everyone welcome https://t.co/pEcxeWLPJv to the team! It was a hard process going through over 100 applicants for the Character Artist position, but we are very happy with the choice we made!#VR #MMO #VRChat #Avatar #characterdesign pic.twitter.com/c1lSIBj7Gb

In preparation for Alpha 2 and beyond, Team 21 has begun expanding their team, inviting Senior Game Developer Roldan and 3D Character Artist Kevin to the team. 3D Artist Kevin Nash had this to say about his excitement for joining the team:
“I've mentored under one of the best hand-painted Character Artists in the industry, and Team 21 brought me on in order to bring that energy and expertise toward creating visually stunning characters, art and other creative assets for Ilysia. I'm looking forward to working with the team and can't wait to see players running around in my skin suits avatars, armor and outfits in Ilysia!”

Ilysia plans to release on Oculus, PlayStation VR and Steam VR, boasts a skill heavy, classless combat system, and endeavors to be a traditional MMO inspired by World of Warcraft, but in a with a whole new perspective. Nearly a year ago, Team 21 posted a video declaring that Ilysia is “Coming 2021”, whether they expect the game to release by the end of the year or if they’re simply expecting to fulfill their Kickstarter obligations by years’ end, we’re not sure, but have reached out to Team 21 and will update the story when we hear back.
