HoYoverse made a splash during the Opening Night Live stream at Gamescom today. Not only did they present Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail content, but they brought a trailer and some details about ARPG Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), which they announced last year but have otherwise been quiet about.
It’s classified as an urban fantasy ARPG title, and the game was introduced by its producer on the stage Zhenyu Li to show off some of the gameplay and style of the upcoming title. We get a look at how development is going, showing the urban setting through some interactive systems in New Eridu, which is the main location, the last bit of urban civilization left.
Another reveal was a new combat mechanic that will let you unleash some flashy counterstrikes when attacked. Given HoYoverse’s track record on fast action and showpieces, this is not surprising.
Li also discussed development, and their work. “We want to picture a world with our unique view for art style and action experience, but at the same time a world where players could resonate with their own. And now, we are more than thrilled to share that we are close to the next stage of Zenless Zone Zero, please stay tuned”.
Meanwhile, Honkai: Star Rail also got a peek at Fu Xuan, the Master Diviner of Divination Commission. She is the general of Luofu and responsible for the reconstruction work there. She is joining the roster soon as part of version 1.3. Dan Heng, Imbibitor Lunae was also highlighted.
Honkai: Star Rail is getting its PlayStation 5 Technical test, and you can start signing up tomorrow.
When it comes to Genshin Impact, the newest trailer shows off some of the above ground and underwater gameplay. There’s a lot moving ahead for the flagship title, and its global popularity also shows in the announcement of a worldwide concert tour in 12 cities in 2023-2024.
