At Gamescom Opening Night Live, Path of Exile 2 revealed an upcoming Early Access date of November 15, 2024, via a new reveal trailer.
The new trailer shows off both cinematic and gameplay footage, showing off some of the new bosses that players will face as well as hints of the new classes, including Ranger. These are only little flashes, though for what they are, they’re pretty exciting.
Back in March, MMORPG got an exclusive hands-on look at in-person events, including an “Exile Meetup,” where we got our hands on the new Ranger class. We also got a preview of the WASD movement schematics, including the new Shield function that allows both active and passive blocking based on direction faced. This was also where we learned the Early Access would be delayed until the back half of 2024—though at least it seems they’re keeping that promise.
Plus, we also got hands-on with the native controller support at Summer Games Fest, where we tried out the Witch’s refreshed gameplay, summoning hordes of skeletons, and Monk with its massive swinging blows.
Needless to say, our staff is pretty excited to see this get off the ground (or rather, into the underground). This is a highly-anticipated game, as the original Path of Exile, released in 2013, is prolific as far as online games go. It’s considered toe-to-toe in reception to its spiritual predecessor Diablo franchise, though competition is only welcomed, as the director told us in an interview that when any “ARPG” is released, PoE itself gets an uptick. It’s hard to imagine what massive crowds PoE2 will bring.
