HoYoverse, the global interactive entertainment brand behind popular cross platform game Genshin Impact, has announced the upcoming release of Honkai: Star Rail's next update, Version 1.2, "Even Immortality Ends," on July 19. This update promises an epic convergence as the adventure of Xianzhou Luofu reaches its thrilling climax.
The update introduces new playable characters Blade, Kafka, and Luka, each with unique backstories and abilities. Blade, a mysterious Stellaron Hunter, is a five-star Wind-Type character who sacrifices his own HP to deal amplified damage to enemies. Kafka, a fearless Stellaron Hunter from Pteruges-V, is a five-star Lightning-Type character who inflicts additional damage over time to enemies. Lastly, Luka, the Belobog-born hero introduced at the Summer Game Fest in June 2023, is a four-star Physical-Type character who inflicts Bleed on his enemies and can enhance his basic attack. At this point, players should be quite familiar with all of these characters, especially Kafka, who has been a longstanding character in the story since the game released in April of 2023.
In our previous review, we highlighted the game's immersive storyline and intuitive turn-based combat system. This update promises to build on these strengths, with the Astral Express Crew facing a setback that threatens the fate of the whole Alliance. Players will explore two new areas, the Alchemy Commission and Scalegorge Waterscape, where decisive battles await. There’s more than just the resumption of the story, as the update also brings a host of new events, such as "Tales of the Fantastic" and "Underground Treasure Hunt," and a new segment, "The Voyage of Navis Astriger," in the Forgotten Hall. The Simulated Universe also receives an update with World 7 and new Ornaments as prizes. This should delight those that enjoy the roguelike nature of the Simulated Universe, as there’s a lot of unique encounters to experience there.
Honkai: Star Rail is set to expand its reach to the PlayStation®5 platform in Q4 of 2023, with cross-save and cross-play functions for more accessibility.
