Honkai: Star Rail is now available on PlayStation 5 with today’s version 1.4 update, “Jolted Awake from a Winter Dream”. The update adds new characters, new areas, story content, events, and more to explore.

HoYoverse welcomes Honkai: Star Rail to PS5 and in announcing the arrival, another platform for cross platform, cross save play. The team touts the performance and extra visual capabilities of the hardware, noting the native 4K resolution, enhanced visual effects, and additional visual advantages, from realistic fog and water effects, reflections, and across a series of locations. No matter how you choose to play, if you have a PlayStation 5, this is an option for what they're calling another form of seamless transition.

In the content update, there are three new playable characters–Jingliu, Topaz & Numby, and Guinaifen. Topaz & Numby are a pair, but are counted as one playable character. Numby is a Warp Trotter and Topaz’ constant companion. Jingliu and Topaz & Numby arrive immediately, and Guinaifen will come a little later.

There are several new areas to explore, including Pillars of Creation, considered the “ final resting place of all of Belobog's secrets”. The icy location is one of the wintery locations fitting the title. There’s also the Old Weapon Testing Ground. This area was formerly the site of heavy industry and technologies that are now forgotten.

The new story content takes place before the Belobog Solwarm Festival, and suddenly, a messenger from the Interastral Peace Corporation arrives, starting a new questline and wrapping characters in the intrigue. The "Interastral Tournament Festival" opens, along with its highlight event, Aetherium Wars.

In this tournament, you'll be able to collect Aether Spirits, which are digital replicas of creatures that you find in the world that you can train and develop to fight on your behalf. Taking inspiration from creature battlers is an interesting feature at the center of a festival like this, but HoYoverse does love its minigames.
