Heroes of Newerth, the MOBA originally released back in 2010, is getting new life from Kongor Studios and Garena, relaunching as Heroes of Newerth: Reborn.
The free to play game will launch on the iGames portal with its existing lineup of more than 80 heroes, with its fast-paced strategic gameplay. The team at Kongor does plan to release more heroes, improve the performance and gameplay, and completely revamp the user interface and experience. Heroes of Newerth: Reborn will be the first game on the iGames Platform.
There is still a fanbase out there for Heroes of Newerth, so the game is coming back. Jesse Hayes, Kongor co-founder, formerly with original HoN developer S2 Games, said in a press release, "This isn’t just a relaunch, but a reimagining of what the game can be in today’s competitive gaming world. From the visuals to the network performance, we’ve worked hard to bring the best possible experience to both veteran players and newcomers." The relaunch is not just the game coming back but it is intended to be a new experience as well that blends the nostalgic and modern.
There’s a new UI, remastered sounds and updated effects. Gameplay will be powered by a new engine, the iGames Engine, with a promise of higher FPS and improved servers. A new boss, Phoenix, that promises to be a rewarding objective and challenge. There are also some new mechanics to look out for. There's also an improved matchmaking system that takes the roles you prefer to play into account when you queue up for matches.
Garena’s Jason Ng, VP of Strategic Partnerships, said, “This collaboration ensures that the original game’s spirit lives on while reaching a broader audience through modern improvements”.
More info, as well as the eventual release, will be revealed over at the official HoN: Reborn site.
