Here's How to Prepare for Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 5 Next Week

Patch 5 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to arrive next week. However, your current Patch 4 saves will not be compatible with it, as was the case with previous patches. But, Larian Studios have provided some information on how you can prepare.

Patch 4 released some time ago back in February which also saw the arrival of the Druids. You can catch up on our coverage here. Circling back to the present, there’s another Panel From Hell planned to show off these Patch 5 updates. That panel is set for July 8 at 11a PDT which you can watch on their official Twitch channel.This follows the first Panel From Hell earlier this year.

However, just as it was with previous patches, your current Patch 4 saves will not be compatible with Patch 5 when it releases next week. To continue playing on your Patch 4 saves, follow these instructions:

  • Right click on the game in your Steam library
  • Select properties
  • Click the BETAS tab
  • In the list under "Select the beta you would like to opt in to", select Patch 4
  • Close the properties menu

To update your game to Patch 5, follow these steps:

  • Right click on the game in your Steam library
  • Select properties
  • Click the Updates tab
  • Select "Always keep this game updated" in the drop down men

If you opted into a previous beta branch, however, follow these steps if you want to update to Patch 5:

  • Right click on the game in your Steam library
  • Select properties
  • Click the Betas tab
  • Select "None" in the drop down menu
