Are you looking to participate in the Final Fantasy 14 open beta on PS5? Well, fortunately, the folks over at Square Enix have you covered. They’ve recently published a handy list of instructions on how you can participate in the PS5 open beta on April 13.
April 13 just so happens to coincide with the release of Patch 5.5. If you’ve been following along, patch 5.5 is expected to be a pretty big one. You can expect a two part main scenario quest, new unreal trial, a secret NieR alliance raid, and much more.
On PS5, you can look forward to native 4K resolution, much faster loading times, higher framerates, 3D audio, and haptic feedback support. If you were on PS4 and own a physical edition, here’s how you can participate in the PS5 open beta,
- On your PlayStation®5, sign in with the PlayStation Network account you are using to play the PlayStation®4 version.
- Visit PlayStation™Store on your PlayStation®5 and navigate to the FINAL FANTASY XIV store page.
- On the store page, press the […] button and select “FINAL FANTASY XIV PS5 Upgrade Edition (Beta Version)” to proceed with the download. A game disc is not required when using this download version.
- Once the download is complete, launch the PlayStation®5 version of FINAL FANTASY XIV from the FINAL FANTASY XIV game screen.
However, if you were on PS4, but owned the Digital Edition, you’ll need to follow some different instructions:
- On your PlayStation®5, sign in with the PlayStation Network account you are using to play the PlayStation®4 version.
- Select “FINAL FANTASY XIV” from the Game Library menu.
- Select the “PS5 Upgrade Edition (Beta Version)” icon on the right side of the game screen.
- On the store page, press the […] button and select “FINAL FANTASY XIV PS5 Upgrade Edition (Beta Version)” to proceed with the download.
- Once the download is complete, launch the PlayStation®5 version of FINAL FANTASY XIV from the FINAL FANTASY XIV game screen.
If you’re on PS5 and you’re new to FFXIV in general, well, just go to the store and download the Free Trial as you normally would.
