Blizzard has announced that a new season is coming to Hearthstone specifically for Battlegrounds, bringing a new mode, minion changes, and fairy-themed rewards.
The new mode, Battleground Duos, allows friends to take on the Battleground together and team up against three other teams of two players. Of course, the life total is shared between the team, and players will have the ability to pass cards back and forth through the portal to really smash the opposition to bits.
Adding a friend to the team is easy, the Battleground menu will now have an option to invite a friend to play Battleground Duos, or for those feeling froggy, they can opt to make a new random friend by joining the Duo queue solo.
Several minions have gotten a complete rework for Duos, as well as Duo-specific Heroes. There are a total of four heroes, 16 minions, and three tavern spells specially catered to the new game mode.
Alongside the Duo minions getting an overhaul, the Solo battleground minions have also had a bit of work done. There are over 50 new minions to collect and utilize, 12 returning minions in Season 7, and a few new Tavern spells to spice things up. The Beasts Warband has gotten a rework, as have Dragons and Mech and balance changes for several minions.
All of these new and exciting things won't all be announced at once, as they will be coming out in waves from today until April 16th when the new season goes live.
In other Hearthstone news, earlier this year we learned that though there is much to come to the game, there will also be some loss, as Duels Mode will be discontinued down the line.
