The Harry Potter franchise has another upcoming game in the works. This time, it's a new multiplayer Quidditch game on the way.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions was just announced today by Warner Bros, and is under development by Unbroken Studios, to be released by WB and Portkey Games. There's limited info but Warner Bros. is currently taking “limited playtest” signups, and there’s a 15-second clip that shows players preparing on the field with the announcement.
This year’s Hogwarts Legacy put you in the role of a student in the RPG, but there were no opportunities to play Quidditch. Now we know that Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions was in the works. WB released a FAQ on the game with the announcement, and while there isn’t much detail yet, we do know that it will be on PC and (as yet unconfirmed) consoles. You can play solo or team up with others online.

There’s no revealed release window yet either, but the fact that they are recruiting playtesters at this stage does point to there being advanced development. There’s also going to be more to do than just Quidditch, and the whole thing is its own standalone game.
“Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a complete, standalone Quidditch experience, developed by Unbroken Studios. It engages players in the sport of Quidditch and other broomstick adventures alongside friends in a competitive, multiplayer setting.”
When the novels and films came out, the game of Quidditch was talked about and popular enough to inspire its own non-magical version of the fictional sport. However, following widespread anti-trans statements by author J.K. Rowling, those who had been playing the game had decided to stop using the name and continue under a different name, Quadball.
WB and Portkey Games included a notice on the FAQ regarding Rowling (who has licensed her IP), saying that “J.K. Rowling is hugely supportive of Portkey Games and has entrusted the design and creation of the games to WB Games and the developers involved”.
