Guild Wars is back in the news as they announce their 22nd Guild of the Week, along with some seasonal Halloween news.
This week's GotW winner is Xen of Onslaught, a three-year-old guild whose mission statement is "to be the best possible gaming group, while remaining free of elitism."
The developers have also released some spooky content for the site this week in the form of Pumpkin patterns!
Among the larger guilds in Guild Wars stands Xen of Onslaught (XoO), a community with three years of experience across a wide variety of online games. Active within the Guild Wars fan forums, XoO's outlook on competitive gaming distinguishes them from other guilds. Their aim: to be the best possible gaming group, while remaining free of elitism. Being a mostly competitive guild, XoO's large member base presented something of a quandary. While many guilds choose to remain small so that only specific team(s) will represent them on the field of battle, XoO preferred to get all of its members involved. With this in mind, the guild's goals were defined—not to be the #1 guild on the ladder, but rather, to be the guild with the highest number of wins while maintaining a respectable ranking. |
... For more seasonal fun, you’ll enjoy the wonderful Guild Wars Guild Emblem pumpkin patterns, created by a Guild Wars fan and professional pumpkin carver (yes, there is such a thing!) called "The Pumpkin Lady." You can visit her site through the main portal or head directly into the Guild Wars Pattern Section to pick up your free patterns. We’ll be displaying The Pumpkin Lady’s extraordinary carving of the Guild Wars Necromancer later this week. |
