The Guild Wars 2 team offered a World versus World Restructuring status update, following the latest team placement period.
When it came to the launch of world restructuring, the launch went pretty well, with a few issues happening at reset with teams in some of the newly created tiers. The issues prevented access to some of the WvW maps, but access was granted after the team found the issue, and they’re planning a more permanent fix in the future.
Since team placement was an important aspect, most players actually wound up where they intended to be, which is a success. Of course, some issues popped up. One team placement bug is already fixed, but other issues were a result of human error, like missing the deadline or just not picking the right guild.
Team creation also generally worked as expected and most teams are putting up similar numbers in war score, player hours, and victory points. Yet, there are enough teams that are unbalanced and the matchups aren't working, so sometime by the end of the month they'll be adjusting the algorithm to balance things.
Also another obstacle to team creation related to time zone population balance. This particularly affects large guilds with members that play on off hours having their specific data completely offset by the averages because their guilds are so large. They will work on figuring out how to balance this but advise that if you are having these issues and the matchups are just not working, you might try joining a smaller guild while they fix the overall issue.
Work will continue, but the latest snapshot is informative, especially if you’re looking to join in and, particularly if you like playing at lower population times.
