A rather large balancing patch for Guild Wars 2 was previewed recently, featuring plenty of changes.
A few different posts outline the upcoming changes to both PvP and WvW. The first post states,
“With this release there are a significant number of changes we've put together for the the competitive game modes, but many of the fundamental principles are applicable in every game mode. In particular, the focus on gameplay being more active is a big piece of the planned changes.”
The posts for PvP and WvW are pretty much the same, but posted separately for ease of access. That post discusses a new cadence for patching and balancing. Ultimately, this is set to introduce a large batch of changes,
“This patch is unusual in that it’s more about establishing a new paradigm than it is a regular balance update, and the result is a giant set of changes. Moving forward with competitive balance, we want to make smaller adjustments more often. The specific cadence for balance will always depend on our overall release schedule, but ideally it will be closer to every 4-6 weeks, while still having the opportunity to make minor tweaks outside of the regular balance update. The goal here is to have better flexibility to fix problems in a timely manner.”
The changes touch on virtually every class across damage, cooldowns and durations, sustains, instant skills, and passive traits.
