It’s Halloween once more in Guild Wars 2, with the return of the Shadow of the Mad King festival, starting today. Enjoy returning favorites and new stuff for 2023, including a new variant of the Mad King's Clock Tower, new achievements, and more.

Shadow of the Mad King is back through November 7th for the spooky festivities, with decor and festive fun. Head over to Lion’s Arch via a series of Asura gates across Tyria if you have access to those, or travel there from the village of Shaemoor in Queensdale.

Once you're set in Halloween headquarters in Lion's Arch, Enjoy the decorations, and even the invitation from Mad King Thorn who shows up every two hours to gather  everyone in the area to play a game. Perform and display the right emotes correctly, and get keys to unlock the Mad King’s Chest. There are also doors to Shadow of the Mad King activities, including minigames and more, and seasonal vendors.

Check out the new Stopped Clock Tower. This is the new variation of the Mad King's Clock Tower jumping puzzle. This variation is designed to be less tough to complete, and both variants have their own achievements, with new ones for the Stopped Clock Tower to earn this year. On top of the tower, is a craftsraven that will help you make Paper Bag helm skins. New this year is the Mini Derlitz the Candy Raven. You'll also be able to find some doors for trick or treating.

Shadow of the Mad King activities will give you rewards as well as trick-or-treat bags. Trade candy corn you receive for all kinds of goodies, from recipes to skins. There are even some new weapons to get your hands on from Courtly Weapon Chests: the Sanctioned Executioner greatsword, Guided Executioner longbow, and Heralded Executioner warhorn. Also new for 2023 are some new objectives from the Wizard’s Vault. Earn yourself some astral acclaim by completing Halloween activities and getting some rewards.

There are a number of other returning activities, including minigames like Reaper's Rumble, a mounted race and time trial in Mad King's Raceway, and find your way through Mad King’s Labyrinth. Of course, you can face Mad King Thorn himself in the Ascent to Madness dungeon.

For more, head to the full event announcement at Guild Wars 2.
