After announcing that the Lunar New Year  event would be coming soon, Guild Wars 2 is now celebrating the Year of the Tiger in Divinity's Reach.

The Lunar New Year Festival is now running through February 15th and you can expect rewards, special items, and this year's new highlight, Lucky Tiger Lantern backpacks. You can collect and open lucky envelopes for rewards like food, fireworks, essences of luck, and those backpacks.

The annual festival meta-achievement, Lunar New Year Customs, has been updated this year to fit the tiger celebration. This year's reward is the Primal Tiger Hood. Last year's meta-achievement event reward can now be purchased from the rewards vendors for the event. You can also earn other items like the Crescent Steel Sword and Mini Lunar Tiger.

Also during the event you can earn a brand new weekly achievement, Lunar Festivities. If you complete some festival activities during the week you can earn the achievement and rewards each week during the event. Some of the other updates for this year include new rewards for the lucky envelopes to suit the Year of the Tiger, new items to the festival reward vendors, and of course new guild decorations fitting the tiger theme

If you're looking to celebrate in Guild Wars 2 with all the Year of the Tiger brings,  you can get started now. With the event running until mid-February,  it's likely that it will end shortly before the release of End of Dragons. The official release date for that expansion won't be revealed until February 1st, but with the recently-released streaming event schedule showcasing different parts of the expansion, and the mid-February end date for the Lunar New Year event, it’s a good guess on timing.

Find out all the details of the Year of the Tiger event over at Guild Wars 2.
