As if God of War Ragnarök wasn’t difficult enough, the latest free DLC God of War: Valhalla makes some of the intense and brutal fights even more tedious than before.
The fierce fights and punishing enemies have been given a complete overhaul, as the roguelike’s new expansion brings procedurally generated levels to the players. It appears that the developers at Santa Monica Studios thought Kratos was getting too big for his britches and wanted to take him down a peg by making the fights even more grueling than ever before.
Though there are no specifics on which fights exactly have been made increasingly harder than they were previously, the developers stated that “some arena challenges” within the Valhalla DLC have been adjusted to make the “difficulty more appropriate."
The Draupnir Spear’s Hind of Deadly Vitality perk has been nerfed, as Kratos will now gain less health when killing enemies while the perk is active.
It isn’t all bad news and more challenging fights, though, as one God has seen a decrease in difficulty: Tyr. Throughout Valhalla, players will take on the God of War, Law, and Justice several times. Thanks to Santa Monica Studios, v. 05.03 makes the very first encounter with the Aesir God easier than the rest. That does not mean he is simply a pushover, as players will still need to use wit, skill, and brute force to take him out once and for all.
